Your job isn’t just to keep things running smoothly—it’s to help our guests have the best karaoke experience of their lives.

  • At Drop The Mic Karaoke, we don’t just play music — we create moments. Our KJs (Karaoke Jockeys) are the heart of the stage, bringing energy, fairness, and fun to every song and every singer. Whether on our main family-friendly stage or in the 21+ VIP lounge, our KJs know how to keep the room engaged, make guests feel like stars, and build a performance atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.

This role is scheduled during peak hours (6–10pm W/Th, 6–11pm F/Sa) and is a key part of delivering an unforgettable karaoke experience. If you’re charismatic, organized, and thrive in a mic-in-hand setting — with an eye for lighting and show flow — we want to hear from you.

    What We’re Looking For:

Stage Presence & Charisma: You know how to work a room, encourage shy guests to sing, and keep the energy high between performances. You bring the enthusiasm that transforms a karaoke night into a true show.

Karaoke Rotation & Hospitality: You keep things fair, fun, and flowing — managing song queues without bias while creating an atmosphere where every singer feels supported and celebrated.

Lighting & Atmosphere Control: You understand the power of lighting to enhance a performance. Experience with DMX lighting systems is a big plus — especially if you know how to program lighting scenes or trigger cues that match the energy of the room.

Family-Friendly Hosting: You’re approachable, warm, and able to interact with kids and families. You model and teach proper mic handling, guide stage etiquette, and help create a welcoming environment for all ages.

Event Leadership & Creative Contribution: You’re excited to host trivia, bingo, game nights, and theme events, and you love bringing new ideas to the table. You’ll be part of the team that creates and leads unique karaoke experiences for our community.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Emcee karaoke in the main dining area or VIP lounge, maintaining a fun, fair, and organized singer rotation.

    • Operate karaoke software and manage a smooth performance queue.

    • Adjust volume levels and manage DMX-controlled lighting to create an immersive performance environment.

    • Guide guests (especially families and children) through mic use, karaoke etiquette, and how to participate with confidence.

    • Keep the crowd engaged — cheer for singers, promote applause, and build a positive group energy.

    • Host themed karaoke nights, trivia games, interactive events, and special programming.

    • Work with management to brainstorm, plan, and execute new karaoke-based activities.

    • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment (mics, lighting, karaoke systems) as needed.

    • Ensure a smooth transition between singers and between shifts or hosts.

    • Communicate clearly with guests and coordinate with staff to ensure great flow and service.

    Qualifications:

    • 1+ year experience as a KJ, emcee, DJ, live performer, or crowd-facing event host preferred

    • Strong public speaking skills and confident stage presence

    • Familiarity with karaoke systems and song rotation software

    • Experience with DMX lighting systems (programming or operation highly desirable)

    • Tech-comfortable and able to troubleshoot mic or audio issues on the fly

    • Must be 18+ for main dining (21+ for VIP lounge)

    • Friendly and approachable with guests of all ages — especially kids and families

    • Available during peak hours: Wed–Sat evenings

    • Comfortable standing, speaking, and performing duties for extended periods

    • Organized, enthusiastic, and collaborative

    Bonus Points For:

    • Experience in lighting programming (e.g., DMX lighting scenes, presets, light/audio sync)

    • Musical, theatrical, or improv background

    • Event hosting, trivia writing, or party game facilitation experience

    • Ability to sing, perform, or get a crowd moving

    • Creative ideas for new themed karaoke events

    Culture Fit:

At Drop The Mic Karaoke, we believe everyone deserves a moment in the spotlight — and it’s your job to make that moment shine. Whether you’re encouraging a first-time singer, lighting the room just right, or getting a trivia crowd hyped, you set the tone. If you're upbeat, inclusive, and live to create good vibes, you’ll feel right at home.

Complete the online application form below and upload a copy of your current resume and (if you have it) a short video or reel showing your on-stage or hosting presence - we want to know who we’re bringing into the spotlight.

You’re not just running the mic — you’re running the show.

FRONT OF HOUSE

  • At Drop The Mic Karaoke, we serve up full-on experiences. Our guests come for the karaoke, but they stay for the flavor. As our Sous Chef, you’ll play a key leadership role in a dynamic kitchen that supports a high-volume, entertainment-focused venue. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef to execute a creative, approachable menu that complements the energy of our stage. Whether it's a busy Friday night or a private VIP lounge event, you’ll help ensure consistency, quality, and flow behind the scenes.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and want to be part of something that’s as much about fun as it is about food, this is your stage.

    What We’re Looking For:

Kitchen Leadership: You’re a confident second-in-command, able to lead the line, delegate effectively, and keep the kitchen running smoothly in the absence of the Head Chef.

Consistency & Execution: You uphold quality standards and ensure that every dish looks and tastes exactly as intended — no matter how busy it gets.

Prep & Line Efficiency: From mise en place to last call, you understand how to prep smart, cook clean, and keep a tight, organized station.

Calm Under Pressure: You stay composed during high-volume rushes and help the rest of the kitchen stay focused and efficient when the tickets start flying.

Communication & Teamwork: You lead by example, foster a positive kitchen culture, and keep communication open and respectful across all back-of-house and front-of-house staff.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, including prep, execution, ordering, and scheduling

    • Oversee the line during service, ensuring food is prepared and plated to spec and standards

    • Lead kitchen staff, provide coaching or corrections as needed, and model professional behavior

    • Support inventory management and track food waste to help meet cost goals

    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen and prep areas

    • Enforce proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures in compliance with health code regulations

    • Assist in training new cooks and prep team members

    • Jump in wherever needed during service — you’re hands-on, not just giving directions

    • Support the execution of catering orders and food for special events/private parties

    • Collaborate on menu development and seasonal updates as requested

    • Communicate equipment issues, shortages, or concerns promptly to management

    • Help foster a kitchen environment that aligns with Drop The Mic Karaoke’s upbeat, inclusive, and guest-focused culture

    Qualifications:

    • 2–4 years of kitchen experience in a high-volume or fast-paced environment

    • 2+ year experience in a kitchen leadership or supervisory role (Sous, Lead Line, Kitchen Manager, etc.)

    • At least one year of catering experience preparing food for special events and/or private parties

    • Must be 18 years of age or older

    • Proficiency in various cooking methods, prep techniques, and kitchen station setup

    • Strong working knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen best practices

    • Current Washington State Food Handler’s Permit

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work evenings/weekends/holidays

    • Calm, solution-focused approach to kitchen challenges

    • Positive attitude and passion for teamwork and collaboration

    Bonus Points For:

    • Experience working in a concept-driven or entertainment venue

    • Creative input on menus or specials

    • Interest in music, pop culture, or a general appreciation for a great karaoke night

    • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
